Nursery School
The Margate Community Church Nursery School is owned and operated by the Margate Community Church and licensed by the State of New Jersey. Established in 1971, our children come to us from Absecon Island and the mainland communities.
Our school year runs from September through May and our hours of operation are from 9 am to 12 noon, five days a week. We offer two, three, and five day programs. Each of our teachers is state-certified, holding degrees in childhood-related areas.
Our present class sizes are 10-12 children with 2 teachers. We use large group, small group, and individualized instruction and focus on learning through play, including numbers, letters, shapes, colors, science, cooking, social studies, language arts, art, movement, music, and so much more.
Our school is structured as an Early Lifehood School. Our goals include: provide a place where children know they are unique expressions of God; provide play as their major work with “hands-on” activities and use a creative child-initiated approach to learning; provide developmentally appropriate curriculum in all areas of growth that integrates physical, emotional, social and cognitive learning and provide a learning environment that allows each child to proceed at their own pace.
The school’s objectives include developing self-esteem, helping each child to learn how to live and interact with others, helping them to be successful in social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development, and creating a love for learning. We want the children to feel safe and see our school as a place where they are loved and appreciated.
“Listen to the children, Listen to their song. Voices filled with hope, Come and sing along!”
