Weddings, Baptisms & Memorial Services

Weddings, funerals, and baptisms are significant life-cycle ceremonies that vary by religion and culture, typically involving an officiant and specific rituals. Weddings celebrate marriage with vows and ring exchanges, funerals commemorate the deceased, and baptisms welcome a new member into a faith community through the ritual of water.

Weddings

The Margate Community Church is located two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and offers two different settings for weddings. We have a spacious sanctuary that can seat over 250 people, or a Chapel which can handle up to 50 people for smaller and more intimate wedding ceremonies. Both locations are provided with central air-conditioning and full organ music. In addition, we can compliment a wedding with our beautiful garden courtyard which is often used for after-wedding pictures.

Any wedding held at the Margate Community Church must include the minister, but outside clergy may be invited to share in the wedding ceremony.

Since a wedding is a sacred and important life experience, we ask every couple to follow a few simple rules that help to govern a wedding at the Margate Community Church and that help to make your time with us memorable and meaningful.

Please contact the Church Office for more information about Weddings at (609) 822-5050.

Baptisms

Baptisms at the Margate Community Church are both a celebration of life and a commitment of faith. You do not have to be a member of the Margate Community Church to have your child baptized.

Baptisms are available during our 10:00 am Sunday Morning Worship. Scheduling for all Baptisms must be made through our Church Office.

Baptisms held during our Sunday Morning Worship become a part of the larger service and are celebrated in front of the whole congregation.

Baptisms are an expression of thankfulness by the parents for God’s blessing of life, they also recognize that God’s presence in every life is crucial for our fullness as a human being, and are a formal welcoming of the child into the universal community of faith we call the Christian Church.

Please contact the Church Office about Baptisms at (609) 822-5050.

Funeral and Memorial Service

At Margate Community Church, we believe that a funeral is an opportunity to celebrate the life of the deceased, offer comfort and hope to the bereaved, and reaffirm our faith in the resurrection and eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Our Approach to Comfort and Remembrance

  • A Service of Worship and Hope: Our services are centered on the transformative hope of the Gospel. We offer prayers, scripture readings, and hymns that provide solace and acknowledge the pain of loss while looking forward to the promise of heaven.

  • Celebrating a Life: We work closely with the family to ensure the service genuinely reflects the life and faith journey of their loved one, including a meaningful sermon or eulogy.

  • Pastoral Care: Our pastoral staff is here to walk with you through every step of this difficult time, offering spiritual guidance, prayer, and emotional support before, during, and after the service.

Please contact the Church Office about Memorial Services at (609) 822-5050.
